SUSO SIGNS THREE-YEAR PARTNERSHIP WITH MEALS & MORE HOLIDAY PROVISION CHARITY
School-approved soft drinks brand SUSO, has partnered with Meals & More in a three-year partnership to support the charity’s fight to end school holiday hunger. SUSO has established a three-year partnership with Meals & More as part of its Stand Up Stand Out ethos, raising awareness and tackling social issues which affect its primary audience of school children and young adults.
School holiday clubs
Founded in 2015 by UK foodservice wholesaler Brakes, Meals & More provides support to children who live with poverty and social isolation and have limited access to adequate food provision and activity throughout school holiday periods. Through the partnership, SUSO will give funding to Meals & More so that it can continue to support holiday clubs across the UK that offer healthy food and social activities for vulnerable children. SUSO will also provide a donation of its range of drinks to school holiday clubs.
Food insecurity
The number of households with children experiencing food insecurity jumped from 12.1 percent in January 2022 to 17.2 percent in May 2022, representing a staggering 2.6 million children aged under 18*. Currently Meals & More provides funding to 38 delivery partners and over 250 holiday clubs across the UK. Exacerbated by the cost of living crisis, Meals & More has seen demand for its services increase. Having supported 1.7 million meals since established, Meals & More’s aim is to support a further one million meals by 2025.
Corporate Sponsor
Peter McGrath, Operations Director at Meals & More, said; “We are thrilled that SUSO has joined us as Corporate Supporter for three years. It is a very challenging time for many families in the UK. The School Holidays can be a particularly difficult time. By supporting Holiday Clubs in local communities, we ensure that children across the UK receive good food and get the opportunity to play with other children. We aim to support 400,000 meals in 2023. We look forward to working together with SUSO so we can help support more children.”
Nelly Edwards, Commercial brand manager at SUSO said “Meals & More’s work to provide healthy food for vulnerable children in the holidays, who would otherwise go hungry, is more vital than ever as families struggle with the cost of living crisis. SUSO’s ethos is to stand up and tackle issues that affect school children and young adults, which is why we have established a long-term partnership with Meals & More to support it in achieving its mission to end holiday hunger.”
